Flexible Merchandising for a High-Turnover Retail Environment

For retail design managers and visual merchandising teams in apparel, frequent product drops and weekly merchandising updates require store environments that can adapt quickly without compromising brand presentation.

This Lorna Jane store fitout, completed in March 2026, was designed to deliver a clean, modern retail space while enabling fast, flexible merchandising across a constantly evolving product range.

Finishes

  • Metal Finish: White
  • Timber Finish: Native Oak

This combination creates a neutral, high-contrast backdrop that allows product colour and seasonal ranges to stand out.

Implementation

Apex Display delivered a modular fixture solution using UniSlot™ wall and floor systems to ensure flexibility and visual consistency across the store.

Wall-mounted posts with offset mounts formed the foundation of each wall bay, paired with UniSlot™ Hangrails, Crossbars and Straight Arms to support varied display configurations.

H-Frame Gondolas were introduced to define key merchandising zones while maintaining open sightlines across the store. Their structure supports high-capacity garment display without creating visual bulk, helping maintain a clean and uncluttered in-store experience.

Each wall bay and gondola can be reconfigured in seconds to minutes depending on the extent of changes, allowing store teams to quickly adapt layouts without disrupting the overall store environment. All adjustments can be completed by in-store staff, removing the need for external contractors.

The Challenge & Solution

The primary challenge was balancing a light, minimal aesthetic with the need for high merchandising flexibility in a fast-moving retail environment.

With merchandising updates occurring weekly in outlet environments, the store required a system that could be quickly adjusted by in-store teams without specialist tools or installation support.

This was addressed through:

  • Modular UniSlot™ Shopfitting accessories that support multiple display formats
  • A restrained material palette to maintain visual clarity
  • Open fixture structures to preserve sightlines and flow
  • A system that enables rapid, staff-led reconfiguration of fixtures

The Outcome

The completed store delivers a clean, modern retail environment aligned with the Lorna Jane brand, with a strong focus on product visibility and spatial clarity.

The modular fixture system allows store teams to update merchandising layouts on a weekly basis, with reconfiguration achievable in seconds to minutes. This supports ongoing product rotation and seasonal changes without requiring external contractors or disrupting the in-store experience.

Why use UniSlot Modular Shopfitting over Traditional Custom Fitouts?

Apex Display provided a flexible fixture solution designed to support both brand presentation and day-to-day retail operations.

Unlike traditional fixed joinery systems that require time-intensive updates or external support, the UniSlot™ platform allows in-store teams to adjust layouts quickly using interchangeable components. This makes it particularly suited to high-turnover apparel environments where merchandising needs to evolve frequently.
