Andar, Korea’s leading athleisure brand, has launched its first Australian store in Sydney, bringing its premium retail experience to local shoppers. To achieve a refined and functional retail fitout that balanced high-end design with cost efficiency, Andar engaged Coma Design. Coma partnered with Apex Display to integrate the UniSlot™ Shopfitting System, ensuring the new store delivered a flexible layout and premium presentation without the price tag of a fully custom build.
Design Objectives
The goal was to create a retail space that mirrored Andar’s Korean concept stores while meeting Australian budget expectations. The store needed to:
- Showcase a premium product range with clean, modern displays.
- Maximise wall and floor space with adaptable visual merchandising solutions.
- Reduce reliance on fully bespoke joinery while maintaining a high-end aesthetic.
- Use quality fixtures that staff could easily update for seasonal product changes.

The Apex Display Solution
Coma Design contacted Apex Display early in the project to confirm how UniSlot™ shopfittings would work within the proposed store layout. After eight rounds of revisions, a final fitout design combined modular fixtures with a select number of custom-made elements — achieving the brief without overextending the budget.
Challenges & Solutions
The main challenge was achieving a premium retail store design on a limited fitout budget. With many custom joinery elements already specified, using the UniSlot™ modular system reduced the need for additional bespoke fixtures while still delivering a cohesive aesthetic. Apex Display also powder coated all metal components in Monument Satin to align with Andar’s branding, creating a high-end, unified look across the store.

The finished Andar Sydney store is a modern, functional and cost-effective retail space that reflects the brand’s global identity. The modular UniSlot™ fittings provide long-term value, enabling easy merchandising changes and store updates without additional construction costs.
